I was wondering if anyone has any opinions they could share regarding these 3 styles of plate carriers/chest rigs. I am looking for a rig that I can wear as part of a PMC load out but also use with Multicam. I don't want a cumberbun, and am looking for something quick, light, and compact.
Thanks for any insight you might have...
Option 1 - RRV
Option 2 - MBSS
Option 3 - Light Vest
i am leaning towards the RRV, but does anyone know what the light vest is modeled after? Thanks again.
Do you care about the back not having MOLLE? i.e. For hydration. If you don't use one, then the RRV is fine. It's nice as you can fold down the front panel which makes it cooler for hot days.
Redworlf seems down.
Regardless of that, I think you know what I'll advise: the Eagle MOLLE PC w/o Cummerbund, the one that Thundermidget and I are both wearing. It's really cheap on SKD currently, and it's Eagle, and it's a light vest!
Anyhow, this was my recommendation ^^
Made a full review of it on a French forum MC dedicated, you can have a look if you want.

From what I understand I can get a molle back section and or a hydration backpack for the RRV, which would make it an all year rig as I could pull the back off in summer when it is too hot out, and then add the back on when it gets cooler and add some Earl grey or maybe even soup to the hydration pack
thanks for the feedback Q
Yeah, the Eagle's RRV is awesome, but over double the price than my Molle PC, so I'll stick to my advice

Sorry, I missed your post Ycare.
The one that you and Dan got is great, but I don't want a MC one as I want something that I can also use for a PMC load out if I choose. The MC is also only available in medium at SKD and I am a BIG (if not Extra Big) boy
I figure Khaki will go with both MC or PMC. I have found that I have too much kit to carry when I have to catch a train into town to hop a ride with someone. As such, I am trying to put together a good PMC load out that allows me to wear the pants and shirt, etc on the train, rather than put EVERYTHING in a backpack. I just feel weird wearing MC battle pants with knee pads on the train
This is why the RRV appeals to me as it looks like it can be modular and easier to carry around.
Oh ok, I see, makes sense!
Although, color wise, I'd advise Ranger Green instead of Khaki, it looks real good with MC, still feels PMC, and is much more sexy then plan khaki IMHO ^^
Ginga- I think the RRV looks like a good choice considering what you are trying to achieve. The Eagle Molle PC doesn't have the removable back, so you'd prob overheat on the warmer days. For winter, Eagle makes a lot of various size packs, hydration kits etc that can be attached.
Though I'm not sure about putting soup in a hydro pack... good luck cleaning that out. Even Earl Grey... cmon, you going to start packing biscuits and crackers also??

It's Redbull and protien bars for me.

Ycare,
Ranger green... thanks for that suggestion. I will look into it. Can you point me to a photo of RG on MC?
Psycho
How do you drink protein bars through the small hydration tube?
Thanks for the links Ycare. Going to look into it a bit more because my sling and some other kit (Fastmags) etc are in tan/khaki so I don't want to mix it up too much...
Decisions decisions

Personally if youi're going PMC I would say Coyote, it's somewhat more popular and easier to find things to match, not bounded to one manufacturer, etc. Personally I also like CP's Ranger Green but then I'm stuck with only one brand.
Then again, I'm not French so what do I know about fashion

.
Coyote is nice, and I like it a lot, but camo wise, I think it's a little too yellow/bright for the Japanese forest, Ranger Green and OD seem to be the best colors without any pattern that will work the best. Enough to see that Woodland is actually very effective in Japan to consider that. I wish Ranger Green was a more common color for loadout when MC is unavailable, I'd definitely use it more.
If I were in the US though, and Cali for example, I'd definitely go MC/Coyote, it just fits better.
