I think in this case the buyer (me) will lose the weapons as they may get seized. But get taken away for bringing in overpowered guns, I theoretically shouldn't since the product & the certification came from the seller. I don't have control if the seller lies.
Q, I got this back from a friend, who asked the lady in the trading division of his company about details...
I will do my best to translate, but if someone notices errors please let us know.
- There is no change to the customs value based on the number of items brought in.
- When bringing in multiple items, customs will ask if it is for personal consumptions or for retail.
- You will probably be required to somehow prove that TKO is an airsoft team and not a retailer.
- There doesn't seem to be a current tariff on AEG
- You should only be charged "internal consumer tax," which is currently at 5%.
I also found this yesterday Q, which shows the price and value points at which the available delivery services change.

I also have a friend that often has to go to ports and receive 40 foot containers of products and do the entire manifest, prepare paperwork, etc. I tried to contact him but he isn't around today. I will let you know if I have more info...but hopefully the stuff above will give you some things to help make a decision about doing this order.
Another Update
Update...
Friend was kind enough to call Tokyo customs and got this info
* Tariff = 3.9%
* Consumption tax = 5%
* Even if the certificate is appended, the police might check it.
There seems to be a discrepancy.
I do not understand which is correct because there are various opinions.
AEG =
Toy = 3.9% tariff =
legal (under 0.98J)
AEG=
Weapon = No tariff =
illegal
Different tariff.
----
So if they are legal toys then taxes will be around 9%
If they are illegal weapons they will be cheaper, but umm...

That's very very good info Ginga!! K guess I'll have to work out how to prove TKO is not a retailer (in Oz, they'd just look up in the database :-(). The delivery info is also relevant. I wonder how much I'd be charge for the holding fee - I know I've paid for that for some personal package items before too.
I guess ordering from WGC or eHobby are also subject to tariffs. Having an offline conversation with YCare, purely for just cost of the ACR alone the price difference between the WGC/eHobbyAsia shops & this bulk order is USD$450 vs USD$418 (current HKD -> USD exchange rates). So a saving of approx USD$32/gun. Other variables then would be shipment, exchange rates, bank transfer fees, etc. My account is Citibank JP and their rates aren't the greatest & I also have to pay Y3,500 for overseas transfer. If you guys were to do a direct purchase, I don't know how you do it (Paypal or CC?) and what their rates are.
Code:
Shop AEG (USD) Intl Shipment Local Holding Fee Tax Bank/Transfer Fees
WGC $450 $67 ?? 9% ??
eHob $450 $70 ?? 9% ??
TKO $418 $?? ?? 9% ?? + Y3500
When I buy an AEG on WGC or eHobby, I only use Paypal, with no surcharge whatsoever.
Please note that eHobby offers a 5% discount on every order when you register. It's not much, but is still 22.5$.
I think the biggest benefit of the group order is the ability to get one. The pre-orders are filling fast, but my guess is that at the end of the day the cost is going to add up to be almost the same.
That's what I'm thinking...if the cost is the same, the effort in coordination is quite a bit (with the misc worries). In short, I wonder if the financial savings outweigh the coordination stress costs.
P.S. no reply about my spring change request.
65$ for eHobby on shipping now, strangely cheaper suddenly, and available again.
I actually decided to bite the bullet, just got a job offer and another good interview, my way of celebrating ^^
Sorry Q

I'm an impatient morron.
I might suggest setting up a TKO purchase deal.
If the same contact can ship to and receive payment from individual members than the heat would be off you and it might be much easier to bring them in?
YCare just as a clarification, does that mean you'll find your own way to buy the ACR?
Ginga, I can try asking him but that means he gets less of a guarantee of a minimum order from us.
NP: Poll cancelled. I'm closing this thread.
