honestly, zombie games just tick people off, 'cuz there is a ton of "overkill" stuff, and "rambo" "terminator" stuff that goes on, and it just turns out into a mess.
however, if you are looking for the experience of "putting your back against the wall, and fending off waves of zombies for your dear life" then I think a typical Black Hawk Down, hold and defend game would work better than a "zombie" game.
There are two sides involved, defenders & attackers. attackers have infinite lives, and defenders must either defend a building, or defend a person (such as an injured pilot) for a certain amount of time, like 20 - 30 minutes. Defenders are limited to around one, or two lives each, and everybody is a medic.
Attackers on the other hand, keep coming, and coming, trying to pick off the defenders, and once hit, they just walk over to a distant spawn point, and go at it again. usually the ration between defenders and attackers is about 1:3, which brings out the greater thrill in both teams.
hope that helped.

Ok, funniest search engine ever! But i meant to ask how you guys specifically play.
Thanks Ansel, that sounds fun. Now if
Only some big group of airsoft playing foreigners that hosted games existed that could invite us......

There is actually a really good description of a Zombie scenario in the October edition of Recon Rag.

TKO played a couple of zombie games back when I first joined, but there hasn't been one in a while. It kind of fell apart and has been replaced with other games.

Also the mutated weaponized rabies virus is hard to come by these days...
On the serious note ive played 2-3 zombie games with TKO and IMHO they never really worked

I think Ginga and I are biased because the first game we played with TKO (in fact the first time we played organized airsoft outdoors at all), we finished the day with a zombie game that was a ton of fun. Since then though, it's never quite worked out. I suppose I keep hoping that we could do it again and it would be like the first time... but I guess you can never go back... *sigh*

Yeah, zombie games are just bruises and accidents waiting to happen imho. It can be fun but you need to go all geared up with full face protection and ready to shed some tears, aside of that, it's basically the opposite of what Airsoft is intended to be I believe

You mean what -your- interpretation of what Airsoft is intended to be
;-)? Do remember Airsoft is very subjective. There's a very active Biohazard/Resident Evil thing going on in Arnies - enough to even have Phantom Web produce Biohazard gear.
I could be out of line here but I think majority of TKO players are more into realistic rather than science fictional games. Admittedly after playing a Zombie game, most ppl will say it's fun. However when asked, want to do it again (or as a regular game like Capture the Flag, Kill 'em All, etc.), at least the ppl I've talked to before came back with a "No" and opt for respawn games instead.
So maybe we could do Zombie games once-in-a-while, as a legal "not calling your hits" meaningless fun activity.

Are we talking about the same thing? I'm thinking about a game type in which if you get shot by a member of the "zombie" team, you join the zombie team. Thus, the zombie team gets larger and larger, and eventually overruns the remaining still-human survivors.
I'm not interested in a game type that involves not calling your hits.

Yes we're talking about the same thing, I over generalised. It was played in Marusaba & Cimax where zombies had to call "brains"? And the only way to take out a Zombie was a head shot?
16-12-2010, 01:28 PM
Yeah, we tried it at Cimax and it didn't work out so well. The one time it worked was the first time I played with TKO at Seals. No headshot rule though. Also, I think people just enjoy shouting, "BRAINS!"

I think it also really depends on the size of the field, the number of players, etc...
At that game at SEALS there were 40+ people, with 5 or 6 at 4 corners as survivors and a special forces team trying to save them, and a team of 4 or 5 zombies to start. The big field mixed with a good zombie to survivor ratio made it really cool.
At CIMAX we had 25 people, and the zombie got shot in the head after about 30 seconds

Oh yeah sorry, I meant the games where people call hits only if they want to and just go around rampaging and spraying ad nauseam without bothering to take any cover. That's what I consider a zombie game, and thus the opposite of "my" definition of Airsoft

Yah, we played that one at Splash when team Spartan hosted a game. I had a hard time with that one as well...I actually felt bad shooting at zombies
