After careful consideration, basically I am leaned towards WA's GBB M4A1 (one of the variants in full metal), despite its price... with plans to upgrade later (203, others).
What are you guys using as primary, mostly AEGs?
I think most members are AEGs. One thing to note about the WA GBB M4A1. I've been reading about this -very- carefully ever since it came out (mostly from Arnies Airsoft forums). Although conceptually it's a nice weapon for airsoft, from what I've read here are some of the points that discouraged me from using it as a skirmishable weapon (naturally subjective but see if it's applicable to you too) :-
* it's somewhat underpowered with HFC134a
* with green gas/propane, the stock parts aren't durable enough
* there are lots of 3rd party replacement parts which are more durable but they're expensive (since GBB assault rifles are still rare in the market)
* running costs, be prepared to bring lotsa gas 'cos 1 can of HFC134a can only fill up 4 mags
These points discouraged me from investing into the WA M4A1 GBB. Note that WE and Inokatsu are launching (or already have) GBB full metal assault rifles. This may solve most of the points above but the running costs will still be high.
Alternatively would be to look into the AEG blowback hybrids. They don't that big of a kick but maybe more practical skirmishable weapons.
Many thanks Q for the reply!
I searched on
arniesairsoft.co.uk but couldnt find the review... I'll look in other places too.
The guys from Echigoya have an improved version (around 80k) of WA's basic model, they also changed the internal parts into metal. Will further inquire about using Green Gas (Propane) with it be4 buying.
I tested it again today, and just loooove the recoil

Check out Wupjak's review on Arnies. It's a -very very very- long thread ;-). I followed it through from the start but if you're just starting now, good luck..hehehe!

I seriously considered getting it and doing a full upgrade on it (which would end up doubling the original cost of the base weapon). But in the end it was having to carry cans and cans of gas for the day of the game that was the turnoff. One more thing too though, prop would bring this weapon a little above legal limits. Just FYI ;-).

lol then I guess using CO2 would be... out of the question
Will take a look @ AEG blow-back too.

Y? Does it look ugly? I was thinking of doing that...dip my SCAR in MC!
I like MC but having a weapon fully MC'ed just doesn't look right...but that's just me.
Not full, just the polycarb side. I like the "golden" upper receiver look still. So 1/2 & 1/2.
hehe

I like MC too (actually still working on completing my BDU)
but gun will stay black & metal (even in wood for a sniper rifle)... sry 'old fashioned'...
ewww MC...Scar...i feel sick
Just to let you know WE and Madbull have just released a full metal M4...awesome recoil and full metal upgrades from ground up ( Not a clone of the WA as some think but uses the original Asahi GBB engine...fraction of the cost of the WA.
As for Primary weapon....well it all depends on the role I'm playing or which side I'm on. Once you have seen my armoury you'll know what I mean.
hey far east....PM me purchase info on that bish. and what i have to do to run it propane....
Right now there are issues with the weapon.... it's so realistic that importers are having to physically go to customs to prove its not a real weapon.
http://www.madbullairsoft.com have information on it. I spoke to Simon Lee CEO and owner for details, as soon as i have them will let you know.
Gunner and RSOV will possibly be getting them in as well.
yeah, let me know. Id go to an M variant again if i had one of these.
