I don't know about luxury...poor ghost is suffering about every ill I've ever heard PTWs exhibiting...he's paying back some serious past battle karma...lucky it's only airsoft and you can live to fight another day....LOL
Yup, nothing quite like popping out from cover, trying to pull the trigger and having nothing happen.
So far my ptw had:
* Broken magazine release catch (first day)
* Broken piston/piston head assembly (first month)
* Bad motor (~6 months)
* Broken magazines from sand/dirt
If the new Marui feels as good as the PTW, and is made from quality materials, I will most likely be purchasing one.
The Marui is full metal (Upper & Lower receiver, 1 Piece barrel and front sight, RIS, buffer tube, rear sight) and Glass nylon (Grip and stock) and it looks like its going to weigh in around the same as a real M4.

Amazing....every misfortune in the PTW book. I've had none except the mag dirty issue, they do need to be cleaned out now and then, easy enough....
Hey the new sopod m4 is out now!
they look pretty sturdy but im worried about the recoil system shaking the gun apart!
That's a great review life26! Thank you very much! Do give us an update when you've played with it more.
~35,000yen (slightly less, but I forgot the exact price) at echigoya, doesnt include battery etc...
Had a play with one today, they have run out of stock until mid January, the guy reccons around the 15th - though they have one for demo there if you ask the staff.
As far as the 80/30 round magazine, (unless I understood incorrectly) there is a different insert for the magazines which allows it to run 30 rounds. An 80 round magazine was ~1500yen.
Asobit has stock in Akiba (4 left as of ~6pm today). 39,000 yen each. Asobit may include the battery for that price.

Thanks! But I'm hoping fareast will do the real extensive review on this one, especially the electrical modding of it.
I heard from someone last saturday that there is a site that talks and opens the M4 sopmod... can anybody post the link here... thanks!
Yes the RIS, you can do a loop system where the wiring is extended and the FET placed in the RIS then looped back. I saw this method used on the Zimmer LR300 system as that receiver also has no spare room.
The guys in Airsoft Mechanics recommended the same thing. I found that the at stock setup, there's very little room to squeeze in the the wires from the front RIS through the collar in the upper receiver. Maybe 3-4 thin wires worth but if you have a thick guage, think some filing or dremelling's required. 2nd prob is that I think with this mechbox design there's somewhat less space too in the receiver. There's more moving parts now outside the mechbox so gotta be careful where to lay out the cables.
Making the channels is very easy as i recently did it to one of my AK's for a mod i was doing.... just use a dremel and score a line along the mech box. Also have actually done some tests there is very little difference in using thick gauge or thin gauge wire.... unless you intend to seriously upgrade the gun and use a Lipo from hell to power a 300% spring with a V12 motor.
You should be able to pick up some good wire from an electrical store that is suitable for the job, I actually looked at speaker cable as they do flat seal wiring that runs under the carpet or under the skirting boards and this stuff is more than capable of carrying the currents we use.
