As mentioned in another post I would like to hold a maintenance workshop on June 6th. I have listed those that indicated they were interested from the other thread. If you are listed please confirm ASAP so that we can open room for other members if you can't make it.

Date: June 6th
Time: 12:00 PM
Location: two-eight studio
ShimoYamaguchi (下山口駅) station if coming from Ikebukuro (12 minute walk)
Seibu-Yuenchi (西武遊園地) if coming from Takadanobaba or Kokubunji (7 minute walk)

I can run a shuttle if people have lots of gear.

Capacity: 8 unless we can find a few more "teachers"
Cost: Not sure. I would like to do something for the "teachers" that give up their time to help us learn more about our gear. Any suggestions please PM me.

STUDENTS:
Confirmed
1. dstole - MP7 Barrel replacement.
2. Hawk - Sopmod work
3. Mike T - M249 Ver 2 mech box work
4. Amazona - Semi/Full Auto switch repair
5. Aouwra

Unconfirmed

Confirmed Teachers (thanks)
1. Anarchy
2. Hazard

We can test our work in my space as we go along and I will have a large table and a work space available. I also have a soldering iron if needed.

Everyone will need to bring their pieces to be worked on as well as a set of tools and any parts they will need for the repair. Standard items like silicon spray, batteries, etc should also be brought along.

Perhaps Anarchy or another senior member can suggest what tools would be needed...

Those that would like to go to BLAM in the afternoon to test their work please let me know when confirming/signing up as I will need to put in a reservation. BLAM will be 3,000 yen

Looking forward to learning some basics.
Thank you again to Anarchy.
Confirm me, but just for the heck of it, no AK rewiring ^^
Going to BLAM after that too !
I can contribute to mechbox upgrading, that is if I can find the place and get there.

I have fair upgrade experience in v2 (MP5, G3, M733 types), v3 (SIG, MP5K types), v6 (P90), v7 (M14), and new v2 (M4 EBB). Currently learning WA M4 GBB system. For the models unspecified, I hope I could pick some tips from there Big Grin

Regarding tools, I only have experience in Tokyo Marui gearboxes so the contents of my toolbox are built around that. But I think most other brands of gearboxes need simpler tools. Anyway, what you guys will probably need are:
- Screwdriver set, (+) #2 and #1 (based on Daiso) at least 3 inches long excluding handle, (-) large and small (don't know the sizing convention).
- T-10 and T-6 Torx drivers (T-6 is optional if you have a complete hex wrench set)
- Hex wrench set (get the "Swiss knife" type that has a very small and very big wrench)
- Stock pipe wrench (for M4 EBB)

Some other stuff you'll need:
- paper towels (a roll would be enough)
- old toothbrush
- grease (Tamiya F grease works well and is cheap)
- thread lock (Tamiya brand) or Loctite-type glue
Please confirm me too Wink
Regarding BLAM, what time to what time?

Edit: I see a potential scheduling problem here, as fixing a gun can take a while, depending on the type and the amount of work to be done.
Unfortunately, since it is a Saturday, I can't make it.

Sorry!
Hazard >> Thanks for pointing out the time issues. I am not sure how long we should schedule to do the maintenance work. I had thought maybe 3 or 4 hours. Will that be enough time do you think? BLAM will be open until 10:00 PM.

Ecthelion >> Sorry, I know you had wanted to do it Sunday, but I have family obligations, and people seemed OK with the Saturday. Hopefully next time.
Please count me as confirmed.
Just to give you guys a idea of how long it can take to work on 1 gun.

I worked on Ycare's AK47 yesterday and preformed a complete rewiring of the mechbox to sort out some issues with the semiauto function on the gun. Had to strip the mechbox down 3 times in total before the problem was isolated and solved and took about 3 hours in total with distrations ( 6 year olds!) And this was pretty much a 1 to 1 tutorial between myself and Ycare so Q&A time as well was in the 3 hours.

Some more things you should bring with you:
  • Another Gun you know that works so you can test parts to eliminate them from trouble shooting process
  • Spare battery, fully charged. (Again to double check things)
  • Sand paper ( Used for removing oxidisation on switches and contacts)
  • super glue
  • Skrink wrap for sealing and isolating cables
  • Heavy grease (For gear and air seals)
  • Light Silicon spray (For valves, slides, hopunits)
  • Large peice of cloth (This is to work on and should be a light colour as its easier to spot smaller parts) and stops them from rolling around
  • Small rubber hammer (For knocking hard to budge parts or nosey neibours that keep wanting to touch your gear)
  • GAS (essential for working on gas guns!)
I'm out, something's come up.
Thanks again to FarEast which guided me through all the steps to understand how the gearbox worked !
Now I feel confident troubleshooting a version 2 (or was it 3 ?) gearbox, fingers in the nose ! Big Grin
Hey Folks,
My wife announced yesterday that she needs the car all day Saturday so I'm not going to be able to shuttle people to BLAM so we will have to cancel that part of the day. Workshop is still a go though. Looking forward to it!
So sorry guys, something came up Sad, and I won't be able to make it... I didn't have much to do anyway, but I'm sorry I won't be able to share my knowledge about the mechbox v2 this time.

I hope to see you all soon, and good luck with the mods ! ^^
BTW, Amazona said she can't access TKOverkill forum for some reason, but she said she's going.
Sorry for being all flaky on this! My schedule has quite fortuitously opened up and I would like to attend this event for the early part. As I still have obligations later on in the day, I won't be able to make it to the skirmish.
I don't need anything fancy really, so I won't be bringing any tools, if that's ok. I just want to have help looking at my new (used) glock so I can figure out why it wasn't working at the last game but DID start working once I got it home. As the only thing needed will be removing the slide and gandering at some parts, hopefully it won't be an issue that I only bring the firearm and gas for testing.
