I won't be...... although I will be looking forward to the 3.0 firmware that will allow you to do everything the new 3GS will. The only thing I'm really interested in is if it has a larger capacity.
It's up to 32GB.
Looks like there are a few functions that won't be supported on the 3G in the update (like video and voice controls, etc). Too bad, but hopefully their will be some developers out there that port the features to the 3G...if Apple lets them Smile
Videos: Great
Faster: Great
Compass: Great
Spotlight: Great
Better camera with autofocus: Super Great

But, that's it ? Kinda disappointed here... even the design is exactly the same, I was hoping for the black matte finish we saw on some websites.

I'll wait for the reviews and see how it goes, but not enough improvements for me to drool all over it at this point.

It'll be a great first iPhone for me!
A rather fast update. Kinda disappointed it didn't take more time. My iPhone isn't 1 year old yet. Tongue

I hope something inside breaks and they'll replace it with one of these. Angel

Mine's broken Tongue....and it's almost a year (12th July '08), and I'm going for the 3GS. But agreed with Brandon, not really a major jump here...more like iPhone v2.5

Very disapointed with Apple for not releasing the following for thestandard 3G even though the apps are already available on eith the Apps Store or through other 3rd parties:

*Compass
*Video Camera
*Voice Recognition
*Tethering under Softbank

Great features that are released but did it reall need to come out under a new firmware upgrade that is totaly deflated :

Horizontal keyboard
Ability to add images in SMS (Palringo was able to do this almost 7 months ago!)

Maybe not the best upgrades, but the speed increase makes at least as twice as fast as the iPhones I had used before!
The thing is I'm wondering if this is due to the new OS of if they are using a new embedded cpu as I have found my apps browser are quicker now also with the upgrade. I am very interested in finding out exactly what hardware is new in the iphone 3Gs.

I have repaired many iPhones from smashed screens and digitisers to faulty cameras and battery upgrades, so I know my way around the internals, so I am wondering if the 32GB solid state memory and the new camera can be transfered to the original 3G

Oh good! If you've done this, my iPhone 3G :-
1) earphone speaker doesn't work - think I mucked up one of the the ribbon cables
2) my vibration doesn't work consistently - needs a "knock"

Where can I get my iPhone repaired? Apple Japan won't touch it 'cos i bought mine from HK.
