Hi Folks,
wondering if anyone has a spare piston and/or main gear (the one that interacts with the piston) left over from upgrades. repairs, etc...

I opened up my buddies SOPMOD and discovered the first tooth on the piston gear (the one that makes initial contact with the first metal piston tooth) has broken in the middle and seems to have sheered the piston tooth it interacts with. I've read that you can't find these two parts individually, and my guess is that TM won't sell them on their own, so was wondering if anyone here has one they are willing to sell me.

If you happen know of a place to get these two parts please let me know.

most TM pistons are sold at your average airsoft shop. Try Echigoya.

I read the SOPMOD is different but will definitely try them.

Wait, I'm a bit confused. The first tooth, counting from where?

Usually I count from the rear of the piston (opposite the piston head). This makes the only metal tooth of the piston rack the last tooth. In the same way, the first tooth of the sector gear (the gear that makes contact with the piston rack) is the tooth that makes contact with the piston's first tooth.

The last time I opened my M4 EBB (since it's barely a SOPMOD anymore) the last tooth of the sector gear is almost gone from the shredding it gets from the piston rack's only metal tooth.

No one seems to be making the aftermarket version of the gears from what I know. And since this is Japan, while having someone to make these is possible, it's most probably VERY expensive.

I know of an online shop that upgrades the M4 GBB with a modified aftermarket piston. With the right tools it's definitely possible.

Another option is to buy a new gearbox assembly from Tokyo Marui. Lionel did it before. If in case you're choosing this option, please throw me a PM because I would like to order too.

Sorry for the mistake in terminology.
based on your post the damage is on the last piston tooth and the corresponding sector gear.
I will contact you when I make an order if it looks like that is the way I have to go.

Echigoya had the spare parts from a past repair so I didn't need to get an entire mechbox. Sweet!

if theres some one out there that would buy an original gearset from TM for me for the sopmod. and post it to me in the uk. id be very gratfull and of course sort you out the cost via paypal.

im good now for those in the uk. Firesupport have the gears, piston , piston head and spring in stock. The akm gears are identical to the sopmod gears
