hi there, name is Jeff, but everyone just calls me dutch. if everything goes as planned i will be leaving korea in february. I started playing back in 2003 in england. Moved to South Dakota, I have a CA G36k, and a KWC 92fs that my son uses should be looking for an mp5 for him some time by the time i come in. Is there any kind of minimum age to play? im really excited to play again, I will see you guys sometime arround feb.
Welcome to the forums,
Basically the law in Japan states that you need to be over the age of 18 to purchase Airsoft guns, so therefore fields use this as the minimum age for players. It may be different from site to site, but thats the norm.
bummer, guess he need to age 13 years real quick them
My son is 10 and I have been told by some fields that he can play if I sign a consent form. He needs to be 18 to buy the guns, I don't know if there is a law about using them if supervised. My biggest issue is that I wonder if OTHER players wouldn't feel uncomfortable playing with a child on the other team. I know I wouldn't feel real good about shooting at 10 year old, let alone a 5 year old (is my math correct there?)
yeah he is 5, i have been bringing him out the past year with me
Awesome, I'll be at Yokota in November, I'll see you out there!
This will give me an excuse to carpool with someone!
Welcome to tko, I might be out in Japan too next year!
Hello Mofi, welcome to tko!
Hi Leon,
Frankly, I don't feel comfortable shooting at children. Two reasons for this, a) it hurts and what I can bear doing to an adult will make me think twice when talking about a child. b) there is the question of experience and maturity that should not be neglected when talking about a sport that presents it own risks. It is not possible to challenge the judgement of child the same as an adult and call him/her on his/her behavior in potentially dangerous situations.
I can't wait to play with my kids, but if you ask me, 16 should be the limit. Just my view, and other people may think otherwise.
Tifast
5 ?! Nah come on... you're joking right ?
Tifats: what's up with Leon ?!
That's me, Leon...
I feel the same. I went to a public game where there was a 13 year old playing. He owned cause
A) He was small and fast
B) He said he imagined he was playing a video game
C) People probably didn't want to shoot at him
My son has been saying more and more that he wants to play, but the more I think about it the more I agree it is too early.
We are going to go to shooting events together and when he is old enough to play he should be a sharp shooter by then.
I'll shoot at anything with goggles on. I don't really get why people wouldn't shoot a kid. If I were a kid I'd be more upset at people refusing to shoot at me and thus "discriminating against my age" than at people happily plinking away.
It's hard to remember once you're older, but one of the worst things to do to a kid...is to treat him like a kid. One of life's many cruel ironies: the young can't wait to be old, and the old wish they could be young.

Daniel likes your post.
Being an english teacher who primarily taught kids, its the thing they hate the worst. In fact, I still hate it!
I really question the way you think, Aouwra. I'm keeping a close eye on you....
Well at the last airsoft game I went to here in Hawaii we had maybe 10 kids around, 13 and under. They know what they are getting into, and their parents were there watching or playing. Its strange to turn a corner and see a kid, but if they want to play airsoft, go for it. They arent going to get hurt any worse than I am, a few welts here and there and maybe some broken skin.
I dont see the big deal honestly. It's not like you're going out and trying to shoot little kids for real. We play cops and robbers, thats all this is. grown ass men who play dress up and shoot plastic at each other. I'd have killed to play airsoft when I was that age!
Yah, me and my brother lived on 2 acres as a kid, and all the local boys would come by and we would play "war". We had a little A-frame building over our water pump. We were laughing at how great it would have been to have airsoft back then, instead of homemade wooden guns and acorn grenades
