I'm looking at my toolbox and thinking that it needs some investment (for one thing it's missing a long flat head screwdriver that will enable me to fix the loose stock on my M4
). Just like to get peoples thoughts on what tools are required for a
a) Basic maintenance on the field
b) Basic exterior/interior modding & tuning
c) Full on open heart surgery to for maximum pimping
I've had a look around on the site, and done some google homework which has found the stuff in the following post.
Depending on the replies to this I'll summarize the content into this post for any more newbies like myself
My research so far

To completely overhaul your handguns you are going to need the following tools and materials.
Valve Key. (I use the one made by KSC as it is compatible for all gas magazines and will undo both the inlet valve and the release valve)
Philips and Flat head screwdriver.
Cleaning Rod. (With cleaning swabs)
Cotton Buds.
Other tools used for disassembling the hand gun.
100% pure Silicon oil (Not spray)
Silicon Spray
Cleaning spray (RC Car cleaner by Tamiya is recommended)
Air canister (Duster spray)
Handgun manual

Regarding tools, I only have experience in Tokyo Marui gearboxes so the contents of my toolbox are built around that. But I think most other brands of gearboxes need simpler tools. Anyway, what you guys will probably need are:
- Screwdriver set, (+) #2 and #1 (based on Daiso) at least 3 inches long excluding handle, (-) large and small (don't know the sizing convention).
- T-10 and T-6 Torx drivers (T-6 is optional if you have a complete hex wrench set)
- Hex wrench set (get the "Swiss knife" type that has a very small and very big wrench)
- Stock pipe wrench (for M4 EBB)
Some other stuff you'll need:
- paper towels (a roll would be enough)
- old toothbrush
- grease (Tamiya F grease works well and is cheap)
- thread lock (Tamiya brand) or Loctite-type glue

• Another Gun you know that works so you can test parts to eliminate them from trouble shooting process
• Spare battery, fully charged. (Again to double check things)
• Sand paper ( Used for removing oxidisation on switches and contacts)
• super glue
• Skrink wrap for sealing and isolating cables
• Heavy grease (For gear and air seals)
• Light Silicon spray (For valves, slides, hopunits)
• Large peice of cloth (This is to work on and should be a light colour as its easier to spot smaller parts) and stops them from rolling around
• Small rubber hammer (For knocking hard to budge parts or nosey neibours that keep wanting to touch your gear)
• GAS (essential for working on gas guns!)
