Hey everyone !
So I got this new stock for my gun instead of the Marine one I had, but instead of going into heavy modding, I'd rather just get a small Li-Po battery to fit in the stock tube.
I looked online for 8.4 Li-Po, but all I see are 7.4, 9.6 and 11.1... what's the matter with that ?! What about the generic 8.4 ? I know my mechbox can handle 9.6 but I'd rather stay on 8.4, so what to do ?
Also, any recommendation about where to buy it in Tokyo ? I want to take measures to be sure it will fit, so no online. Also, do I need another charger ? I have a generic one sold at Echigoya.
Thanks for sharing the knowledge guys !

I buy alot of my lipos from
http://www.CBP.com, EHOBBYASIA.com, or ebay.com
I use 11.1v lipos and 7.4v lipos.
as a general rule, 7.4v lipos give a rate of fire between a good 8.4v to 9.6v Nimh
A quick AUDACITY test of my KWA M4A1 shows the rate of fire results using a NIMH and Lipo
The ROF are as follows
Top is an 8.4v 1500mah Elite battery with a ROF of 19 rps
Bottom is a 7.4v 2200mah 30C Lipo with a ROF of 18 RPS
Pretty close.
here are some 7.4v Lipos compared to an 8.4v mini. All fit in the Marui PAQ-4.
Here are some stick lipos(Li-ion) compared to an 8.4v stick
I use these little voltage alarms to tell me when to switch out the lipos because of course you never want to fully discharge them.
I generally use these Esky type balance chargers. They are cheap, and charge at a very safe .8 amps or less, but are slow as hell.
just remember to monitor the charging process and dont use them on say a support weapon which will require that you stay on the trigger.
cheers
Wow, thank you so much Golgo for the detailed feedback, I understand better now the differences !
Although your last comment blew the whistle.... I meant to use it with my main weapon, which I do use sometimes for support/cover, and depending on the situation I can be generous on the trigger, so not really advised with Li-Po as you said >_<
I guess I'll have to go with heavy modding on my stock to fit Ni-Mh batteries ! Anyone has a dremel ?

There's an alternative: LiFePO4 batteries which is starting to catch on in popularity here. It's already available in some stores. They are 9.9V packs, and are safer than Li-Po because they don't explode. They just die out. They need similar chargers and balancers during charging though, and draining them below a certain level will render them unuseable - much like other rechargeable cells.
They have stick configurations that may go into stockpipes of non-blowback M4s.
LiFePO4 doesnt' explode? I wanna test that

. To be honest, I've been using LiPo's from early early way back and although I'm not super cautious with it, I also don't abuse it and never had any of my LiPos explode on me. What I'd be keen on would be the form factor, weight, and mAh of the LiFePO4's.
Interesting that they come in 9.9V. So YCare, NiMH/NiCads come in 1.2V cells, LiPo's and LiIon's come in 3.7V. LiFEPO4 seem to come in 3.3V.
Hazard, the ones available at the stores, are they the Madbull ones (guessing LiFePO4 == LFP)?\
Edit: Sorry, I should give context for others

That's based on what I read. No first hand experience as I am not keen on getting batteries that can potentially burn down my accomodations if not handled properly.
The one I saw in at least 2 online shops and in Tamtam Sagamihara are these:

Damn! So these things do straight charges with no balancers huh? One of my gripes about LiPo's is that you need balancers and naturally they're proprietary from LiPo brand to LiPo brand. Good to know about these LFP's, I may give it a shot.
Thanks for the info guys ^_^
