Hello,
I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in doing 100km in 48h or less.
trailwalker
Teams are made of 4 members. The twist would be for us to piggy back the race, gear up in semi-milsim (reasonably civilian) and do it with minimum support + fast packs, strobes, cyalums, mayyyybe AEGs.
Anyone interested?
So?.... no Airsoft SF ready to take the challenge?
I dont see what this has to do with MilSim or airsoft, but I'm in if you're putting together a team. Seems pretty damn fun to me. However, 150 dollars is an awful lot to front for a 50 mile hike.
I cant imagine anyone would let us gear up and run around in public with AEGs, wearing BDUs would be pushing it, and I dont think I want to do 150 miles in boots honestly!
hey, welcome my friend, the ability to conduct very long combat march is one of the very specifics of combat units above the top.
100km in 48hrs, you will understand what is milsim...
Now for BDU, we don't have to be all cam and everything. While the rest of the teams are dressed up in fluorescent skin tight polypropene suits, we pick the tad gear/north face and so on PMC style equipment to do the same, and we may avoid, as fit, the comfort zones. We are autonomous with the safety of the existing infrastructure.
As for the AEG, they are not mandatory
[forgot to add: landscapes and sightseeing are beautiful]
100km in 48h ?! O_O
Good luck guys, with all my heart, good luck.
It's only about a 1 mile per hour pace if you walk the whole thing through. I dont know what the terrain is going to be, but it shouldnt be that tough.
Also, tifast I know all about long ass forced marches as I am in the military.
So pick a uniform, get a team together and lets do it. I have my flecktarn camo I'll be happy to use but I dont have a military style packpack. I'm sure I can find something before then though.
Ycare, that's funny because I thought that you, in particular, would be up for the challenge. Wraith is right, it is one mile per hour. The real things that may be a pain in the butt is the load but we will keep it to a minimum, I am thinking 17 lbs max. (and you get to ask your girl friend to support you and/or do it with you)
Terrain is long plains and up and downs on some sections.
Secondly, it is a hike for a good cause, we will trek for charity.
Wraith, you're my man, a) thanks for your service, b) I'll probably be in Coyote brown and khaki.
Need to find some good shoes when I'm in the US in March.
But isn't this very expensive ?
I mean I'm up to the challenge, but running non stop for 48h would make a walk of 2km/h (over 1mph), and I don't know if I'm in the physical state to do that honestly speaking.
I climbed a mountain not so long ago, and 7h non stop of steep climbing pushed me to my limit, not mentioning the 6h of steep descent, which were the worst by far. I enjoy challenges, but physical challenges always get me to the point where I'm not enjoying the thing anymore, and what's the point to do it if it's not to enjoy the ride ?
The average age of the oldest team last year was 55...
It is standard graduation for the guys whose flag you carry in games
and contrary to the military, we don't get to carry 60 pounds of crap on the back.
The hike is not hardcore, there is no steep descent or climbing but yes, it is an experience and you have to get through it... and you are a very focused guy, Aymeric. That's the type of things you can live through
I can assure you there is a "before" and an "after".
let's train and prepare. I started a few weeks ago, gym + running.
This sounds like it's just a lot of walking, not climbing. I imagine if we moved at a good pace we could make it in 24 hours or less. if you can move at a walking pace for 24 hours, you should be goo/
And yes, it is expensive! I'd do it just to say I've done it before, and to brag about my time. I wonder what a realistic time would be?
Expensive ? How expensive ?
And thanks for the compliments Tifast, you almost make me want to be part of it now

let's train and prepare. We will enjoy crossing the in country raid style.
Wraith, for time I was thinking of something like this:
6 x [ 4 hours walk+1 hour rest ]
+ 6 hours sleep
@ 4 klicks a hour (50mm walk + 10 minutes rest)
that should be 36 hours with a good 6 hours spare.
Sounds reasonable to me. I say forget the sleep and grab a powernap if you have to. You can push through 30 hours by taking a quick hour or two halfway through.
You are right, Wraith, we can drop the sleep for quick naps. I bought today the headlight

So really? No one else wants to do this? It will be the trek of a lifetime you know, something you can look back on and tell stories about!
I plan to bring my camera with several 32 gig memory cards for massive amounts of pictures and video
