I was wondering which way is the best way to draw your pistol. There are 5 positions that I'm considering: Under the armpit (police detective style), cross-draw from assault vest, holster on your duty belt, or holster on your thigh, holster on belt clip. IMHO, thigh rig is faster than duty belt holster and belt clip holster.

any other opinion perhaps?
I have another good question, when was the last time you actually had to draw your secondary? I carried a TM detonics for two years and didnt draw it once. It sat there and banged against my leg when I ran, so I stopped carrying it except for pistol only matches. I have not once been in a situation where I though "Man, it would be great it I had a pistol right now". Something worth considering if you have a primary that doesnt break every game.

That having been said, a holster on the belt since it wont rattle around when running or a quality thigh holster would be nice for the same reason. Cross draw from a vest takes up valuable vest room, and under armpit holsters tend to flop around and get tangled with gear in my experience.
I feel the need to switch to my pistol occasionally... although I often play the entire day without needing to use it (as Wraith noted, except for pistol only games). I carry it every game because I know that I do need it sometimes, usually for increased mobility, other times it can be faster than reloading my primary. Also, I just like to have it because it's cool (my main motivation for a lot of my kitBig Grin).

Anyway, I've used a belt holster that keeps it upside down, on the right side of my back. It works really well, keeps it close and very secure, but it takes up a fair amount of real estate on the belt. I carry everything on the belt, so the length of belt that each item takes up matters to me. I'm switching to a drop leg holster that I bought from Ycare to save space on the belt so everything fits more comfortably. From what I've heard, there is a big difference in performance between cheap drop holsters and more expensive models.

I was starting to think the same thing until at the last game my battery died on me, then I was happy I had my handgun on my thigh to continue the game.

It's mostly for that kind of occasions that I carry it personally, and this can happen to anyone.
Slickest draw in my mind would two handed cross body from the hip...very slick.
Quickest draw that I have seen is time trial and was from the strong hand hip...blindingly fast.

I carry my handgun for the first few games and then always take it off because it is weighing me down, or I let some one else use it (almost always Ycare cause he has bad batteries Smile )

In casual games that are about 15 minutes long with generous ammo allowance I never really have a need for my secondary. In milsim or campaign based scenarios it might make more sense to carry it.

There is something to be said for the fun of using your pistol as your primary and enjoying the lightness and speed it allows, although in those cases it never sees it's holster.

Never liked thigh holsters and have been searching for a better system for about a year.
I have to agree with dstole, "slick" doesn't always mean "quick." By experience, a hip holster with the barrel aligned to the seam of the pants or little farther back in "FBI cant" is both quick and secure. Good thigh platforms give you some more mobility and agility. Blackhawk thigh platforms are very good in that category.

A bit related, use the smallest, slimmest, lightest pistol you have if it will just be a secondary. In other words, skip the Desert Eagle in favor of a USP full size or compact (electric would be better). It will move less when you run.
It is easier for me to draw my handgun through my CQB waist belt/waist holster and i can move around easily, i tried some leg holster before but i always fell down when running around it might not fitted to me and i feel uncomfortable...or cross draw from chest vest is good for my left hand, i want to try a cowboy hip holster so that you can carry both 2 handguns on the side..(although i found some but too expensive).. at Kawaguchico game i found it's hard for me to carry a 2.5 kilos rifle with sling in that terrain ( in true life you have no choice)so i used both handgun later of the game and made me more thorough of my target..i think i hit Distole 3x Tongue
