I wonder if these are OK to use in Japan. Probably not.
UHF Frequeng Range, so that would be a no. Outstanding replica, and a very reasonable price for everything thats included.
No, they aren't. After our discussion about radios the other day someone sent me a link to a Japanese website warning that these were being sold on yahoo Japan but that they were illegal.

"Hi Leon-san,
There is a supplementation about the radio that got into the news in the forum.
The replica radios which sold in some auctions and online stores are a caution needed.

The sellers said they are "TOKUSHO"(特定省電力無線機).
The usage is different though the frequency band looks alike.
Therefore, they become illegal radios.
We think that we should know. "

The links are long warning and people talking about the radios. Long story short, very cool, but illegal here in Japan.
Doh! too bad.
I don't know, as much as I seen real military using those type of radios, and many people at TKO using those headphones, I've never been a fan of having one ear blocked by a speaker, even if unused most of the time. We do a lot of somewhat "CQB", including outdoor games, which requires much more attention both on the visual and audition sides.

If it would be a real combat situation, I'm guessing the distances are much broader, and precise hearing might less important, but for Airsoft, I prefer having my two ears grand open Smile

But that's just my tastes Wink
