I cant recall a situation where half of any group of helicopters on a mission were lost, so I'm just going to assume someone told you a nice little story that conveniently bashed the US Armed Forces while sounding credible. Bravo good sir!
Not all helicopters were lost, some turned back before getting to the drop zone and a bunch had to make emergency landing in the desert, waiting for engineers and spare parts to be able to fall back.
Story not made up, my father is a consultant for the Lebanese Forces and worked with Intel services in the Middle East.
Again, I'm not trying to make a fool of the US Army, France is far less organized and makes mistakes on a regular basis. US was though ill advised (by foreigner advisers) at the Gulf War time and still recently after 9/11, if there is one thing they're guilty of, it's that

.
But we getting out of subject, I was just trying to illustrate how a little thing like sand can cause real scale problems in military operations.

Sure, it looks great but it costs a lot and you'll spend a lot more just getting it to work the way you want. Long cooldown times, leaky magazines, magazines that don't fit, hop-up units that don't fit or work after getting them to fit, etc. Ended up selling it all away for a loss through Yahoo Auctions because it wasn't working well. Still seems hard to believe that this is the more popular GBB platform.
GBB's are far from being standard still. So many platforms (G&P WOC, AGM, etc) are 'based on WA' but not exactly. There's enough slight differences in dimensions that it makes it a headache for 3rd party parts manufacturer to get a perfect fit. I had to file/custom my Airsoft Surgeon's SLW Vltor BC to take the RA-Tech NPAS nozzle, similarly RA-T's bolt stop to fit into the WA firing block, and the examples go on.
It's been expensive however even though GBB's as a concept is dead old, as a (re)newed 2nd/3rd/4th wind, it's stll an evolving concept as such no firm standards yet. This is quite unlike AEGs whose standards are almost pretty much set.
In short, the continual popularity will continue to shape the GBB platform and eventually we'll have more conformant standards for it like AEGs. But without that popularity, there's no $$ invested and it's 2nd/3rd/4th wind will die again.
After 2x WE M4s and my GHK AK105, I'm going to hold off on GBBRs until I move back to a warmer area. Propane doesnt work so well here in the winter.
Also, this is why I use pure propane and not green gas or propane with silicone. This was right after I shot two mags worth of this crappy gas through my M4. It took me hours to clean the silicon out of it.
Ycare. You're wrong. PM me if you want information.
EDIT: This was normal green gas being sold by Poweredge in Hawaii, came in a yellow can.
