OK, so I was having trouble getting a proper charge in my Angs D-Bal batteries.
There was talk about how to solve the problem, and I figured a nice, expensive charger with all the bells and whistles would solve the problem.

I headed to Redwolf, and bought a charger that would handle everything I threw at it.

Looks good yah?

Got it delivered today.
The power cord is unlike anything I have ever seen before.
Pretty sure it's one of these...

I have a few power plugs kicking around from audio gear, so I tried one of them instead, as the charger is 100v-240v. Won't even turn on!

So, should I send it back or should I try and figure out how to get it to work here in japan?

Anyone able to offer any advice?

Thanks.
I have brought stuff back from the UK before and I have been able in the past to just get a convector (power and plug shape) from denki store. I just asked my wife about it and she said you should just take the cable into yodobashi kamera and say you need a convector for power from UK to JP. They should be able to help.

I hope you can find what you need mate. Gotta love those beefy British mace style plugs, ey!
I wrote Redwolf to see if they might have a Japanese socket compatible cable, but they suggested the same thing you did Tobo. I bought an adapter yesterday, plugged it in...nothing! Still won't turn on.

85 Dollar paper weight Sad
Hope Redwolf will take it back.

Thanks for your help Tobo.
dstole, do you need this b4 the weekend? If so, let's do a meet up. If not, bring it to the game please. I'll see what I can do for you.
Thanks Q, I appreciate that.
I bought it to charge a Lipo that I bought and o try and drain/charge those Angs D-BAL batteries I was talking about in another thread..I have other batteries I can use in the mean time, so I will bring the charger and ANGS batteries to the game on the 24th.

Thanks again.
I have one of those chargers and I got the same plug with it (UK) but I just bought a swedish one with the same computer-style connector and it works perfect.

Don't get an adapter, buy the whole cord with a japanese plug. They aren't expensive at all and should be readliy available at any yodobashi, bic camera or sakuraya there since they are used for regular computers as well as screens and load of other electronic kit. It should look like this (but without the third round plug)

If it doesn't work then, you've got yourself a faulty charger I'm afraid.
Thanks for that Seraph,
I have a number of those plugs kicking around that I use in my audio studio. I tried one and it didn't work. The adapter I bought didn't work either, so I might have a broken unit.

Redwolf has been very good on the customer service front. They have asked I do a few tests to try and get it working before sending it back. I will give it a go and see what happens. I think you are correct though, I think it's a bad unit Sad
Can you please do one last final scan? I know the Redwolf advertises it as 90V -> 240V but can you please confirm with labels on the charger? Also now this sounds primitive but are there any switches (either inside or outside) for switching between 90V (100V really) -> 240V (or 220V)? If none, and instruction book doesn't say anything about manual switching then yes you do have a dead device of which not much point bringing to the game (esp if you've tried changing power cords). Back to RW I'd say.
The manual lists it as 100V - 240V. The manual says hat when you plug in the device the LCD should light up and offer some options for initial settings. The screen doesn't light up at all. There are no on/off switches that I can find, except for the panel buttons on the front, but I have pressed and held each of them incase it acts as an on/off. No luck. I really don't think the unit is working at all...

There is the option to connect to a car battery...maybe I should give that a try Smile
It is times like these that I feel I should have taken some electronics courses.

Thanks again for your help.
It seems you do have a broken unit. It is indeed 90-240 V and it doesn't have a switch for choosing voltage. I say just return it.
