Just a quick FYI:

I received yesterday my second G&P gun, which of course is great, but there is an important matter you should all be aware of before buying a G&P gun: the power output.

Some of you might remember I bought my first G&P last year, and already had a 1.1J output, in spite of proper paperwork from WGC saying it was under 0.9J. Had to cut the spring twice FYI to make it legal.

Yesterday I received my second G&P, muzzle checked it, and... 1.2J, with paperwork saying it's 0.84J from eHobby Asia.

So, as much as I love G&P, you need to know that when you buy a gun from them, you will need to take it apart, open the gearbox, cut the spring of few centimeters, file it down, and finally put it all back together. This in order to be legal in Japan.

I'm personally used to it now, but it's still a pain. A newbie in Airsoft on the other hand might have some real issue doing all the above all by himself, so buy in consequence.
This is interesting Ycare as I have had similar experiences.
I bought the stubby killer from WGC and it was over 1 Joule. I had to do some work to bring it down in power. The spring in it was very strong, probably a 120, which is maybe 1.2J. I think the short barrel on the stubby brougb the power down to 1.1J, but it was still too strong.

BUT

I also got a shipment from ehobbyasia yesterday and the gun has G&P internals. Ehobbyasia homepage said it was 320 fps and it shoots at 95m/sec which is spot on. It is a custom build though, so maybe a weaker spring?

My guess is that stock G&P are using that 120 spring.

A side note...
My gun didn't seem to go through customs. I got a shipping mail on Tuesday from ehobby and when I checked the tracking number Tuesday night it said that it would leave for Japan on Wednesday. I realized, sadly, that it would never reach me by Saturday. Yesterday I got a mail saying...
"A big parcel just came from Hong Kong. If it's another gun you better buy a pillow for the couch!"
I bought her a fridge instead Smile

Sure enough, it was the package from ehobby. No taxes. No sign of going through customs.

FYI,
ehobby be good.
G&P be strong.
New fridge be best airsoft related purchase EVER Smile
Really guys, actually any non-JP guns you buy, there's a high chance that they're over 1J. Now this may even apply to JP export models (e.g. say the export version of KSC or Tanio Koba's, which are mostly made then distributed out of Taiwan). So what you're seeing is quite normal and not just limited to G&P. The story goes with VFC, G&G, CA, etc. too.

TM guns exported to HK and re-imported back in OTOH would naturally be under 1J.
Yeah, same here, no long stop at the custom for mine either, but the papers about power output were taken off though (there are always 3 sets attached, and only one was left when I had the box.
2 days received though, love EMS.

Anyone else has a G&P and a muzzle checker so we can see what it gives for other people?

Btw, what does 320fps translate in J?
320fps = 0.95 (for iPhone users look out "Airsoft FPS Calculator" iApp...it's free).
Nice, thanks Q ^^
I had the same problem with My Real Swords that i have bought from them, each had paper work saying .81J and when tested i was shooting at 1.63J (420FPS) so they came with SP120 in them. So now when i order a gun i order SP90 just in case, that way i know that i am under the 1J mark.
Wow, that is a big difference between claimed and actual power. Good thing customs seems to be happy with paper work, even forged paper work according to some sources, and don't actually test the guns.

Are springs based on J or is it different for each maker? Is a 120 essentially 1.2J and a 90 a .9J spring? I know that internals and inner barrels will chnage things, but as a guideline is this the case?
GingaNinga,

From my experience of importing motorcycles into Japan, what i have found is custom does not care as long as the paper work is good to go. Now once you take posation of the AEG and find out it has a bad spring then its on you. The only problem i did have with customs is a set of old HD heads that i had sent back to the states to have redone do to the engine using leaded gas and they had to be redone for unleaded gas. They set in customs for 1 month because the guy down there didn't know what to do with them (jack#$%%).

For springs I need some help on this part, there seams to be 2 rating systems from what i have seen. I stick with Guarder because there SP 90 gets me around 300fps, will with in the safe limits of the 1 J rule.

I will look around and see if i can find a good spring guide and posted up here.
