Unlike many forums out there the majority of us are not strangers. We know each other and I understand the admin desire to make sure things are kept civil. However, I would ask that there be a discussion between the administrators about a grievance system for people that purchase bad weapons through this site.

Obviously, it is best if the person that made the purchase discuss the problem directly with the person who sold the weapon. But, when that process doesn't resolve the issue, there needs to be another step. Of course we can't have TKO admin arbitrating, that isn't what I'm suggesting. What I am suggesting is a system where buyers can contact admin if they have complaints that can't be resolved directly with the seller. If, for example, 2 people complain about a specific seller then TKO admin should ban that person from selling weapons and gear on this site.

We all want to trust each other and I think that the instances of purchasing bad weapons is probably more to do with lack of care from the seller rather than anything malicious. But there needs to be a system in place where we can say to this person, collectively, "You need to make sure that what you are selling is not crap".

On Saturday a group of us went to BLAM for the day. While waiting for our turn I tried the Tokyo Marui M9 Tactical Master, and asked the salesman if there were metal slides available for this gun.

He replied that there were, but that I couldn't use a gun with a metal slide at BLAM. When I asked why not, as it wouldn't change the power output, he explained that metal slides were illegal. According to the sales person the law in Japan is that you can't have metal slides or receivers on hand guns. I kept asking questions, and in the end it was a story much like US band radios...you can sell and buy them but you can't use them

I hate this answer. If you can buy and sell them why can't you use something? Weird!

I also thought this strange as I have seen stores (echigoya) selling metal slides.

When I went to echigoya yesterday I asked them about it and they said it was no problem. Of course they would as they have an entire bottom shelf of 17,000 yen 1911 metal slides.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a definitive answer, or is it really just another case by case law that one cop will decide to enforce while another won't care?

Any input appreciated.

Ok, so this thread is about frustrating experiences you had with your airsoft guns .

I'll start since I'm in the mood (VERY frustrated):

So while clocking my AK47 (from Fareast) last week to compare my new Tavor's output, I realized something seemed wrong with my chrono, my AK was shooting at 0.2J...
Tried couple of times, changed batteries, tried shooting at a cardboard box, then at my hand... yup, 0.2J.

Open it up, everything looks fine, then try to shoot, and there it is, huge cracks all around the gearbox, pieces of metal that were held by the AK's shell start flying out of the gearbox... sweet.

So yesterday I received from eHobby Asia a new Reinforced Guarder AK gearbox (just the casing since internals were supposed to be good), pretty standard I figured.
Well, wrong. The trigger connector little box wouldn't fit into the goddam gearbox, had to cut part of it. And since I had to cut some of the wires to change the gearbox, I went along and did a whole new wiring with clean connectors to the motor (not soldered like before).
Other couple of places where not really a fit and I end up grinding bit by bit the difficult parts of the gearbox (each time retrying closing the gearbox. Also do NOT take painted gearbox, mine is black and the paint doesn't help for the bearings at all... makes them too tight).

Finally, after maybe 6 hours of battling with the gearbox to fit it all, and a lot of grinding and sandpapering, I manage to close it properly, semi works, motor engages properly, just got to put the little top sliding plate in there... 20mn of hammering to make it slide enough... ok then just need to put it all in the AK.

Start doing so... and, band one of the trigger little metal plate (to which cables are soldered) gives up... not sure if too old, too bad quality, or what else, but it snaps right out of the gearbox...

I was, and stll am of course very upset. Tomorrow I got to go to Akiba, get a new trigger connector box, new wires, and re do the whole thing again...

So, what's your story ?

So I'm in Hong Kong for a quick trip, and I'm thinking of buying parts to build a new gun (don't want to go through the hassle of bring a full gun through customs). I try to avoid assembling complicated mechanisms because A) I'm not great at it and B) I always end up injured somehow. So I was wondering if I bought the parts how much would it cost a place like Echigoya to assemble it for me, or is that even an option?

MGS4 Custom M4 - Custom Build

I finally finished my custom build M4. Here is the write up from my blog.

I was warned!
When I first started looking around airsoft forums and asking questions about a custom build I was constantly met with a resounding, "Don't do it!" I was told custom builds were expensive, time consuming, and frustrating.

I did it anyway.

I decided that if I was going to custom build something, it might as well be a gun that I couldn't buy elsewhere, and that was going to be some what original, and personal to me. When I first started playing MGS4 I instantly fell in love with the looks and style of the custom M4. I soon decided that this would be my custom build. There were a couple of posts around the web with people that had built this already, and a parts list available on a Canadian airsoft forum. I had some parts kicking around from a used purchase that didn't work out, so I bought the parts that I thought I would need.

Many of the custom M4 builds were based on the M4 shown in pre-game promo pictures and video. Some of the parts shown in the promotional videos and pictures, like the EOTech dot sight, weren't available in the game, so I decided to build based on what I used in the game.

I made 3 orders online from 3 different stores,
RSOV, WGC, and Redwolf Airsoft.
See here for reviews on each of these shops.

The complete parts list looked like this...

Stock - King Arms 6 Position Stock (Tan / Pipe Without Marking)
Receiver - 'Dboys' metal M4 body kit (M-28 plain)
Grip - G&P M16A2 Grip with Heat Sink End Set ( Sand )
Rear Sight - DBoys 40L Rear Sight
Front Sight - Action PRI Flip Up Sight for M4 Series
Hand Guard - VFC M4 Carbine Length Free Floating RAS
Outer Barrel - 'Dboys' M4 aluminum outer barrel
Inner barrel - Madbull Black Python 6.03mm (455mm)
Hop-Up - Madbull Ultimate 3-in-1 Hop-Up Unit
Battery - Angs 9.6 battery
Compressor - TM Knights Type
Magazines - TM M16 Standard Size

I had a V2 mechbox and motor kicking around, so used these for the build.

The only real problem I had initially was getting the Plain Receiver. When I initially ordered it from RSOV they sent me a KA Markings type by accident, even the the box was for the plain one. The sent me a replacement, but this was the bottom half only, and ended up being a different colour. They then sent me the top half of the receiver, but this had a charging handle spring that was too long. To top it off a plastic piece at the from on the charging handle was broken. Luckily I still had the old one they sent me, so I was able to swap it around.

I ordered parts on December 4th, and finally had them all sorted by mid-February! So much for a winter holiday project.

So now that it is built, there are a few small issues that I am trying to get sorted.
- I tried a number of different mags with it, and the TM type seem to work best. I am OK with this though as they look the most like the weapon I am trying to copy.
- The outer barrel wobbles a bit, but I have been told that this is common (normal) for a floating system.
- The Hop-up unit seems to misfeed every now and then. I don't know if this is because I have the madbull hop-up built wrong, or if there is something else happening, but I need to figure this out.
- I decided to place the battery in a fake PEQ laser box at the front. This is similar to how it is set up in MGS4. The battery connectors don't line up real well though, so I might have to re-wire it.

There are also 2 things that don't match the MGS4 game set-up. The mounting style for the red dot is a forward type, which is different from the game. The foregrip is a bit shorted that the one in the game, but this is because I really don't like the length of the game version...what were they thinking

I have had a chance to shoot about 200 rounds through it, and I am generally happy with it. I really like the weight and balance of the weapon, and with the stock out to it's 4th or 5th position it fits like a glove. I can get a clean cheek weld, and the weapon is quick and responsive. the 9.6V battery gives a good ROF, and it chronographs at a respectable 96m/s with no hop, and about 93 with the hop-up turned on.

Now that I have done it, I don't think that I will custom build again. At over 60,000 yen I could have spent my money on a complete gun with some serious upgrades, but with the cost of full metal parts here in Japan, I don't feel that it was too bad. At the end of the day, I have a custom gun that I have wanted to own for at least a year. All I need now is a good set of octo-cam!

Chrono and accuracy tests coming soon!

Hello folks. I've browsed this forum, and a couple others looking for info on sights.

I'm looking to put a sight on my TM Sopmod and/or my TM MP5K, and was just looking for some advice/recommendations, and maybe even some offers on sights you may not need.

I currently have an airsoft 2x red dot sight I bought from a China/Hong Kong importer and I don't use it, because for one, I can't sight it in, even if I am to keep the dot centered, it shoots low and to the left at it's highest windage and elevation corrections. It also has no parallax correction, no thanks.

I'd like some kind of EOTech, AimPoint, or Trijicon replica that actually has parallax correction. Magnification isn't a necessity, but I wouldn't more any more than 4x for field of view reasons.

I'm no sniper, or DMR, mainly because I can't hit the broad side of a barn when I am sighted in. I'd like something that's reasonably accurate and reasonably priced at the same time, and something that is big enough so I don't have to spend a lot of time planting my face on the buttstock to align my eyes to the dot/reticle/crosshairs.

I'd like to keep my price range to under $100 US, maybe a little more.. maybe..

Thanks in advance for your advice/recommendations.

In honor of my new creation below, I've changed my forum avatar back to one I use to use. (EDIT: Might change it back, its too small to read)

So I was bored and wondering what it would be like to do some sniping with my Marui MN at night while using a PBS4 suppressor. The suppressor works pretty darn well but it does add quite a bit of extra weight to the gun on top of the 4 pound scope. Changes it from a cracking sound out of the barrel to a nice WHUMP WHUMP sound. Of course you can still hear the bolt rattling, so it's not all that quiet.

Decided that it's entirely too much shit to actually use on the field, I'm not sure I'd be able to run with it, much less be effective. I might still try it out someday, but for now I'll stick with iron sights or my Kobra.
